Dr. Ker Zhang has been the CEO of VIA Telecom since 2002. He was the CEO and founder of Synchronization. Inc, a joint venture with Eastern Communication (Eastcom) in Hangzhou, China, from 1997 to 2001. He was also the GM of Eastcom’s Mobile BU between 1999 and 2001. Under Dr. Zhang’s leadership, Eastcom developed and marketed the first GSM handset under a Chinese brand name with the support of Synchronization. Prior to Synchronization, he was a VP of Microtek International and GM of its Multimedia BU.He has also worked in various technical and managerial capacities for Motorola and Rockewell. Dr. Zhang received his Ph.D. from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts and is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Dr. Mark Davis is ultimately responsible for all aspects of research and development at VIA Telecom. With more than 25 years of technical and managerial experience in the telecommunication field, Dr. Davis established the predecessor of VIA Telecom in 1995, then known as LSI Logic’s WirelessDesignCenter. He was responsible for the development of GSM and IS-95 CDMA baseband processors. Prior to that, Dr. Davis was employed at Linkabit, an entity later acquired by Hughes Network Systems, working on VSAT satellite networks. While there, Dr. Davis began working in the cellular telephony field on various projects relating to the IS-54 Standard (now known as "IS-136"), TDMA, AMPS, and IS-95 CDMA. Dr. Davis obtained his BSEE from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1982 and his Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego in 1992.

James Jiang joined VIA Telecom in May 2007 and is responsible for worldwide business development. Prior to joining Via Telecom, he held various positions with ZTE from 1999 through 2006.While at ZTE, Mr. Jiang established ZTEiT and served as the General Manager and Chairman of the Board until his departure.Mr. Jiang also served as president of ZTE's project management company ZiMAX. From 1994 to 1999, Mr. Jiang worked at the NortelWirelessResearchCenter, serving as the senior advisor responsible for obtaining certification of Nortel's CDMA BCS-BTS Product line.The line featured patented technology, allowing the interoperability of the CDMA2000 Standard with the existing CDMA service provider's technology.In addition, he served on the Standardization Committees for 3GPP2, TSG4, WG2 (Vice Chair), and TR45.4. Mr. Jiang obtained his Bachelor's Degree in 1986 from the Nanjing Polytechnic Institute and his Master's Degree from the University of Texas in 1991.

Lie Zheng joined VIA Telecom in August 2002 as Special Assistant to the CEO, commencing the operations necessary to establish VIA Telecom (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd. Prior to joining VIA Telecom, Mr. Zheng served as Manager of Commercial Development for Tsinghua Tongfang, and before that, as Manager of as Accounting and CFO for Eastcom Communications Co., Ltd.From September 1999 to March 2001, he acted as the comptroller for Eastcom's United States subsidiary. Between 1993 and 1997, Mr. Zheng served as Assistant Manager for the International Division of the Hangzhou Branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. Mr. Zheng received his Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Hangzhou University, now Zhejiang University. |
