VIA Telecom, who’s the producer of Vivie’s CDMA chips, is playing a very low key in the Vivie press conference. Executives from Unicom, VIA and HTC were all present at the conference held on 18th; but they seem to have an understanding of fading out the fact that VIA is producing the CDMA chips.

VIA was licensed by Qualcomm over 4 years ago with cdmaOne and cdma2000 technology. Since two years ago, LG Telecom has been using VIA’s CDMA chip for their Korean cellphone market. Earlier this year, VIA Telecom merged its CDMA and GSM chip company and shifted focus onto China mainland.

According to CCTime, VIA’s low cost CDMA chips has broken into Nokia’s supply chain, Nokia CDMA handsets with VIA chips will be available first quarter next year.
