LG Telecom declares "No more Qualcomm's Dominance in the Korean CDMA market."

NS1000 weighs 63g, comparable to an egg, being the lightest cell phone in Korea and is 15mm thick, the thinnest in the world, the company explained.

The new model is focusing on the needs of customers using their phones only for voice transmission and SMS, excluding built-in camera, MP3, wireless Internet which are responsible for high cell phone price. NS1000 will be priced at less than $90.
LG Telecom underscores that NS1000 succeeded in commercializing VIA's CDMA chip (CBP4.0) for the first time in the world. The company expects its new model to bring changes to Korea's cell phone market by challenging Qualcomm's dominance and thereby ensure cheap and quality CDMA chip for Korean handset makers.
